A goal to use prototyping, user testing, and strategic planning to elevate legal representation
Project Date: Fall 2023
My Role: Together with my group, comprising Gavin Hall, Olivia Shapiro, and myself, we distributed responsibilities evenly across not just the UX Strategy Toolkit but all collaborative tasks, showcasing our shared accountability and teamwork.
Project Overview: Our capstone project, collaborating with Marietta-based law firm Reed Leeper, P.C., aimed to revamp their digital presence.
Specializing in construction litigation, personal injury, and real estate law, the firm underwent a significant shift, requiring a website transformation to align with their rebranding. Drawing insights from “UX Strategy, Second Edition” by Jamie Levy, our journey focused on identifying issues, constructing personas, and conducting thorough user testing for the website prototype.
Understanding the Challenge: Before our collaboration, Reed Leeper, P.C. underwent a rebranding shift. Their existing website presented challenges: clutter, navigation issues, and complex legal jargon. Our goal was to refresh not only their logo but their entire digital identity, catering to a broad audience while simplifying navigation and language.
Analyzing the Market Landscape: The legal services market in Marietta is saturated, making it challenging for individuals to find suitable legal counsel. Through analyzing competitors like Jones & Swanson and Cobb Law Group, we identified strengths and weaknesses, guiding our vision for Reed Leeper, P.C.’s website.
Crafting a Solution — Building the Lean Canvas: Our strategy commenced with a Lean Canvas, defining problems, proposing solutions, and articulating a compelling value proposition. We emphasized accessibility and simplified representation, recognizing the unique connection between construction industries and legal services.
Focusing on User-Driven Design: In-depth competitor analysis steered our decisions. Utilizing Figma for rapid prototyping, we refined the website’s interface and content layout. User testing confirmed our strategies, validating preferences and fine-tuning our approach.
Results — A Transformative Impact: Positive feedback from user testing validated our design choices, emphasizing the need for simplicity and clarity. Our website redesign aimed to be approachable and relatable, projecting a warm persona while emphasizing client reviews.
Looking Ahead — Continued Growth and Evolution: The insights gained laid a solid foundation for Reed Leeper, P.C.’s enhanced digital presence. As we transition into 2024, our commitment remains toward continual evolution and growth, integrating enhanced user-testing knowledge and refining our product.
Conclusion: Our journey through strategic planning, iterative prototyping, and user testing translated insights into a robust website, amplifying Reed Leeper, P.C.’s digital presence. The UX Strategy Toolkit was instrumental in establishing a foundation for ongoing expansion and refinement.
