Oglethorpe Echo
The majority of these stories are gated behind a paywall, but I’ve included PDFs for each piece below. During my Capstone course at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications, my peers and I were assigned the task of selecting news beats for a local town. I collaborated closely with my beat partner, Olivia Shapiro, on covering sports and recreation.
Our dedication to the Oglethorpe Echo was unwavering as we deeply engaged with the community, striving to absorb as much as possible. This class stood out as one of the most enriching experiences during my undergraduate tenure, allowing me to witness firsthand the profound impact of community journalism on a town. The lessons learned from the Echo have ingrained within me a profound appreciation for community journalism, which will forever hold a special place in my heart.
